Vilnius-based Saltz.app secures €20M to enhance food distribution across Europe

Lithuanian fresh products marketplace Saltz has secured €20 million to expand across Europe, grow its workforce, and build a global digital food marketplace.

  • Established in 2022 by Tomas Šlimas, Andrius Šlimas, and Reinis Strodahs, Saltz is a digital marketplace that connects professional kitchens directly with verified food suppliers, with offices in Vilnius, Berlin, Warsaw, and Krakow.
  • The firm develops a platform that consolidates supplier catalogues, ordering, payments, and logistics into a single interface, enabling chefs to source meat, seafood, poultry, fruits, vegetables, and other essentials from farms and regional producers across five European countries.
  • Saltz works with both small and large suppliers and has onboarded global hotel and restaurant chains, including Hilton, Marriott, Gaspar’s, DioGo’s, Nolita, and Nuta. The company also integrates sustainability initiatives by ensuring products are delivered with minimal environmental impact and supporting carbon removal projects in manufacturing, construction, and agriculture.
  • In 2024, Saltz raised a €3 million seed round led by Lifeline Ventures, with participation from Change Ventures, Illusian Family Office, and business angels.

Details of the deal

"We are so proud of Andrius Slimas, Tomas Slimas and Reinis Strodahs for the progress in building Saltz.app to date, and super excited for a bright future as they build a global food marketplace for restaurants. For Change Ventures, this is magic to be backing another cross-Baltic founder team from both Lithuania🇱🇹 and Latvia," commented Change ventures' team on LinkedIn.
