Cologne-based startup Vytal Global, a provider of smart reusable packaging solutions, has raised €14.2 million to accelerate its international growth. The round was led by Inven Capital, with support from NRW.Venture.
- Founded in 2020 by Fabian Barthel, Dr. Josephine Kreische, and Dr. Tim Breker, Vytal Global develops reusable packaging solutions to replace single-use packaging.
- Their software platform helps businesses in food, beverage, and events manage the logistics of reusable containers. Customers borrow containers for free and return them within 14 days at various locations or through delivery services.
- The startup has a network of 7,000 partners across 24 countries, helping drive the transition to a circular economy. Its system includes logistics and cleaning services, simplifying the adoption of sustainable packaging for businesses.
- Vytal Global has doubled its revenue in the past year and expanded into Albania, Greece, the UAE, and South Africa.
Details of the deal
- The investment was led by Inven Capital, a Prague-based venture capital firm supporting climate tech startups across Europe. German-based NRW.BANK also joined as a new investor in the round.
“We have been following the Vytal team and progress since the early days and are convinced that they are best positioned to reap the business opportunity of transforming the packaging industry towards circularity,” said Kristyna Machova, Investment Director at Inven.
- The investment also received support from existing investors, including Emerald Technology Ventures, GRAZIA EQUITY, Rubio Impact Ventures, Chi Impact Capital and Kiko Ventures.
- Vytal Global will use the €14.2 million funding to improve its technology, making reusable packaging more efficient and cost-effective. The money will also help expand into the US and strengthen its position in Europe. Additionally, it will support product development and new brand partnerships.
“This new funding comes less than nine months after our last raise and reflects an incredibly successful 2024 for the Vytal team. We are well-positioned to scale our impact further and make tech-enabled reusable packaging the new standard in gastronomy, events, and entertainment globally," claims Dr. Tim Breker, co-founder and Managing Director of Vytal.
