Norwegian startup Telescope secures €3.7M to lead real estate into a sustainable future

Norwegian startup Telescope, which helps real estate owners manage climate-related risks and unlock financial value through data-driven sustainability insights, has raised €3.7 million in a seed funding round co-led by Scale Capital and Dreamcraft Ventures, as Vestbee was told.

  • Founded in 2022 by Gustav Haaland, Marit Bjerkreim, and Mathias Wahl, Telescope develops a platform designed to help real estate owners manage climate-related risks.
  • The platform transforms complex climate data into actionable insights, enabling property owners to assess and mitigate risks such as floods and wildfires, while also uncovering opportunities for energy upgrades and green financing.
  • Telescope’s solution empowers real estate owners to leverage sustainability as a strategic advantage, making informed, financially-driven decisions without relying on conventional PR or marketing strategies.

“We’re not here to add more paperwork. Unlike existing solutions, Telescope turns sustainability from an abstract compliance risk into tangible, financially driven decisions," co-founder and CEO of Telescope, Gustav Haaland, stated in a press release.

Details of the deal

  • The fresh funding round was co-led by Scale Capital, a Copenhagen-based venture capital firm that focuses on B2B technology companies in the Nordics and Germany, investing at the seed and Series A stages with ticket sizes ranging between € 1 million to €3 million.
  • Dreamcraft Ventures, also based in Copenhagen, co-led the round. They invest in tech startups across Europe, from pre-seed to Series A. In June, Dreamcraft launched a €66 million fund to support B2B software startups in the Nordic and DACH regions. The round also saw support from Curiosity VC and OBOS Oppstart.

"Their platform quantifies both climate risks and upsides – like the threat of landslides or floods, and the ROI of energy upgrades for both owners and their tenants, enabling property owners to make financially impactful decisions, whether investing in renovations or securing green financing," explains Matilde Lyet, Principal at Dreamcraft Ventures.

  • Telescope plans to scale its operations by expanding into new markets like Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands. The funding will also be used to enhance its platform and broaden its services to include financiers and investors in the real estate sector.
  • Additionally, the capital will support team growth and help Telescope continue its mission to assist real estate owners in managing climate risks and unlocking financial value through sustainability.
