Barcelona-based platform for edge computing orchestration and automation, Nearby Computing, has raised €6.5 million in a Series A round led by pan-European Walter Ventures and Spanish JME Ventures.
- NearbyComputing was founded in 2018 by Josep Martí and David Carrera, spin-offing from the Barcelona Super Computing center (BSC). The startups’ solution enables advanced orchestration and automation of operations for applications and networks, such as MEC (Multi-Access Edge Computing) environments and private 5G networks, allowing industrial companies and the Telco sector to maximize the benefits offered by Edge Computing technology.
“As we grow our presence in the market, our main objective is to enable more enterprises and service providers with advanced edge computing and SW automation solutions. We are seeing fast-growing traction in the market, and we are looking forward to showing how NearbyOne gives enterprises access to a complete solution for their entire network ecosystem,” said Josep Martí, CEO at Nearby Computing.
- The round was co-led by two VCs: Walter Ventures, an early-stage investing platform that focuses on tech companies across Europe, and Spanish JME Ventures, a seed-stage investor that typically invests €100,000-3 million per startup. Telefónica and Akamai Technologies, along with existing investors Cellnex Telecom, Lenovo, and Spain’s Redeia Group also joined the round.
- The proceeds are going to help Nearby Computing expand into crucial markets, strengthening the business's capacity to increase sales and establish its dominance in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North America regions.
