Lisbon-based energy tech startup Manie, which helps people automatically switch to the cheapest energy provider, has raised €1 million in funding to expand into the Spanish market. Investors include Shilling VC, Bynd Venture Capital, and HEARTFELT.
- Established in 2024 by André Pedro, João Melo, José Sá, and Francisco Val Ferreira, Manie develops a digital platform that helps consumers automatically switch to the cheapest electricity and gas providers.
- Manie enables users to upload their energy bills, instantly compare market offers, and either manually switch to a better deal or opt into an auto-switch service that continuously monitors the market and switches them to the best available tariff.
“We realised that the bureaucracy and complexity were unnecessary. So we created a digital solution where users could switch energy providers in minutes - eliminating manual work and, above all, guaranteeing direct savings on their bills," co-founder and CEO of Manie, André Pedro, commented.
Details of the deal
- The investment was backed by Lisbon-based Shilling VC, an early-stage VC firm, Bynd Venture Capital, a venture capital firm that supports tech startups across various sectors from seed and early stage, and HEARTFELT, a Berlin-based VC firm that backs pre-seed startups founded in Europe and by European founders globally, which led the pre-seed round.
“Manie is proving that it’s possible to bring simplicity, transparency, and savings to a space long overdue for change. Their strategic evolution and momentum make it clear: they’re not just ready to lead the Portuguese market, they’re ready to expand beyond borders," claims Ricardo Jacinto, Managing Partner at Shilling VC.
- The startup will use the funding to expand in Portugal, grow its team, improve the product, and prepare for its launch in Spain.
