Milan-based startup compri, which empowers SME procurement teams with AI-driven efficiency and insights, has secured €1.6 million in a pre-seed funding round co-led by Italian Founders Fund and DFF Ventures. The investment will fuel platform enhancements and accelerated product development.
- Founded in 2024 by Edoardo Gava and Edoardo Arbizzi, compri develops an AI-powered procurement platform that helps mid-market companies, especially in manufacturing, streamline operations and optimize spending.
- The firm uses AI-driven agents to automate procurement tasks, enhance supplier management, and uncover cost-saving opportunities by integrating internal company data, such as ERP systems, emails, and financial documents, with external sources like market indices, credit scores, and ESG ratings.
- Compri claims that it has already onboarded industrial clients with revenues between €20 million and €300 million and expects to manage over €500 million in spending through its platform in the coming months.
Details of the deal
- The pre-seed round was co-led by Italian Founders Fund, a Milan-based VC that supports founders with Italian roots aiming to develop their startups globally. Last year, the firm launched a €50 million fund to invest in Italian seed and pre-seed startups, alongside Amsterdam-based DFF Ventures (Dutch Founders Fund).
“We immediately saw great potential in Compri. It’s perfectly positioned within the Italian and broader European markets, where there is a huge opportunity to boost corporate efficiency through smart automation. We’ve known the founders for a long time and are excited to back their execution-driven approach and strong vision," claims Lorenzo Franzi, Partner at Italian Founders Fund.
- The investment also saw participation from notable tech and procurement executives, including Carl Tremblay, former Head of Growth at Plaid, and Giacinto Carullo, Chief Procurement Officer at Leonardo.
- The startup will use the €1.6 million funding to scale its platform across Europe, grow its workforce, expand its customer base, and enhance product development, focusing on AI-driven procurement automation and operational efficiency.
