Paris-based fintech startup Bitstack, which helps users save and invest in Bitcoin effortlessly through a simple and secure platform, has raised €5 million in funding to expand its team and launch new features. Stillmark led the round, which was also participated in by Serena and Plug and Play Tech Center.
- Founded in April 2021 by Alexandre Roubaud and Kabir Sethi, Bitstack develops a platform for users to save and invest in Bitcoin.
- The app rounds up everyday purchases to the nearest euro and automatically invests the spare change in Bitcoin. It also offers instant Bitcoin buying, selling, and transfers starting at €1.
- Bitstack has over 150,000 users and has helped facilitate more than €125M in Bitcoin savings. The platform is also registered as a Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP) with the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF).
“In just two years, Bitstack has become the go-to app in France for saving in Bitcoin. In 2024, we ranked among the top 10 most downloaded Finance apps, and our revenue has more than tripled”, claims Alexandre Roubaud, co-founder and CEO of Bitstack.
Details of the deal
- The round was led by Stillmark, an American venture capital firm that invests in and backs Bitcoin companies at the Pre-seed, Seed, and Series A stages.
With this funding, Bitstack is taking a giant leap toward making Bitcoin an easily accessible part of everyone’s financial toolkit. We’re excited to offer simple, new ways for millions of European users to benefit from Bitcoin's potential and reshape the future of savings," Founder and Managing Partner at Stillmark, Alyse Killeen, commented.
- The investment also saw support from Serena, Plug and Play Tech Center, Y Combinator, AG2R LA MONDIALE, Founders Future, and STATION F.
- By early 2025, Bitstack plans to introduce euro accounts with IBANs, allowing users to convert euros or salaries into Bitcoin automatically. The accounts will come with a VISA debit card for payments in euros or Bitcoin, offering Bitcoin cashback.
- The funds will also be used to recruit talent, boost user acquisition, and strengthen Bitstack’s market position.
