Polish-Swedish startup BeeSpeaker raises €2M to expand in new markets

Poland and Sweden-based BeeSpeaker, an edtech language learning app using AI and video lessons, has raised €2 million in a seed round led by Warsaw-based VC firm Movens Capital, with participation from SpeedUp VC and angel investors, as Vestbee was told.

  • Established in 2022 by Karol Wegner and Bartosz Pieślak, BeeSpeaker is a mobile app that helps people learn to speak foreign languages by focusing on speaking and listening from the start.
  • The app combines AI-powered conversation modules and video lessons with professional teachers to create realistic, interactive language practice. Users engage in short video lessons with native speakers, repeat phrases, and participate in AI-driven conversations that provide instant feedback on pronunciation and language use.
  • Its courses cover multiple languages, with AI-generated video tutors being introduced to scale content production, helping learners gain confidence, practice speaking naturally, and overcome the fear of using a foreign language.
  • To date, BeeSpeaker has over 60,000 paying users across more than 100 countries and is projected to generate €5 million in revenue in 2025.

"That focus on what users actually need has paid off. We've cracked the top 30 global language learning apps with just 13 people. That efficiency is our superpower. While others chase scale at any cost, we've grown 4x by obsessing over what our users actually want. Now we're ready to take that same ruthless focus and go after the top 5," claims Bartosz Pieślak, co-founder and COO of BeeSpeaker.

Details of the deal

  • BeeSpeaker’s €2 million funding will be used to expand into new markets, introduce additional languages, enhance AI-driven personalization, and develop interactive features, immersive video content, and AI-generated tutors to make language learning more effective and engaging.

“Karol and Bartosz bring rare depth as founders. Having built and scaled a successful software consultancy with a focus on mobile apps gives them an unfair advantage and the technical intuition and executional discipline to move fast and make smart bets. They’ve timed their adoption of AI technology perfectly, but what sets them apart is how closely they listen to users and iterate accordingly,'' Artur Banach, Managing Partner at Movens Capital, commented in a press release.
