German ARX Robotics raises €9M in a seed round co-led by NATO Innovation Fund

Munich-based defence tech company ARX Robotics has raised €9 million in a seed funding round co-led by NIFDiscovery Ventures, and Project A

  • ARX Robotics was founded in 2021 by Marc A. Wietfeld, Stefan Roebel, and Henrich Maximilian Wied. The startup develops sensors and autonomous unmanned systems for the defence industry. Armed forces from European countries, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, and Ukraine, are currently setting up, collecting, or testing ARX systems for use in training, simulation, transportation, surveillance, and reconnaissance.

"ARX is committed to contributing to European technological sovereignty by scaling up the production of these systems, generating software-defined systems, and developing adaptive hardware to meet the demand for robust and autonomous unmanned systems," says Marc Wietfeld, CEO of ARX Robotics.

  • NATO Innovation Fund made its first investment last week, making ARX Robotics its second startup in its portfolio.
  • This seed round was also co-led by German Discovery Ventures and Project A. With more than 40 startups in its active portfolio, Discovery Ventures is a micro-VC that invests in early-stage companies through a €40 million fund. Project A is one of the leading early-stage tech investors in Europe, boasting a portfolio of over 115 companies and a ticket range of $1 million to $10 million.
  • The new €9 million funding will be used by ARX Robotics to grow the company and scale up production in Europe
