Munich-based startup Alpine Eagle, focused on countering autonomous drones, has raised €10.25 million in seed funding from IQ Capital.
- Established in 2023 by Jan-Hendrik Boelens and Timo Breuer, Alpine Eagle develops the Sentinel airborne Counter-UAS system. It detects, classifies, and intercepts small drones and other unmanned aerial systems using AI and edge computing, with superior detection in complex terrains.
- Sentinel offers high mobility, allowing protection for both mobile and stationary assets. Its system uses a swarm of sensors and interceptors, all managed by a single operator, to provide early warning and interception, even against low-flying drones.
- The system is used in military, commercial shipping, high-value asset protection, and border security applications, providing critical protection against emerging drone threats.
"Our software is the world’s first air-to-air counter-drone system, using cutting-edge technologies to detect, classify and neutralise hostile drones. From protecting national assets and global supply chains to safeguarding energy infrastructure, our system provides a comprehensive defence solution that adapts to the most complex and dynamic threat landscapes," Alpine Eagle's team commented.
Details of the deal
- The round was led by IQ Capital, a London-based VC that supports technologies in computer science, energy, life sciences, fintech, space, and advanced engineering, along with returning investors General Catalyst, a California-based venture capital firm, and HCVC.
- The startup will use the new funding to grow its team, adding more machine learning experts, aeronautical engineers, and new hires in product development, engineering, business, and sales.
