Ukraine-based defense technology company Buntar Aerospace, which develops autonomous reconnaissance drones and AI software for military applications, has raised $16 million in a funding round led by Freedom Fund VC and an international private equity fund.
- Founded in 2023 by Ivan Kaunov, Kateryna Bezsudna, and Bohdan Sas, Buntar Aerospace develops unmanned aerial systems and software for military reconnaissance and decision-making. Its products include the Buntar-3 reconnaissance drone and Buntar Copilot, an AI assistant for drone operators.
- Buntar-3 is designed to operate in environments affected by electronic warfare, while Buntar Copilot assists operators with data analysis and decision-making during missions. The company said its systems are already used by frontline units in Ukraine.
Details of the deal
- The round also saw participation from Gardar Venture Capital, Iron Wolf Capital, and Autonomy Capital, bringing Buntar Aerospace’s total funding to $30 million.
- With the fresh capital, Buntar Aerospace plans to accelerate R&D, expand production capacity, strengthen its engineering and management teams, and support international expansion of its dual-use technologies.
- The company is also expanding its product development across defense autonomy, including reconnaissance, counter-drone capabilities, and precision-strike support.
