Notable Funding Rounds across the EU:

  • NUMA Group, a Berlin-based startup, secured $59M in a Series C  round led by Verlinvest. The company developed a platform that merges the best aspects of traditional hotels with the flexibility and convenience of short-term rentals.
  • British cybersecurity company Goldilock secured $1.7M in Seed round funding. The company offers a patented, non-IP-controlled hardware cybersecurity solution named Drawbridge.
  • Berlin-based proptech startup Novo has secured €1M in a pre-seed funding round to accelerate the decarbonisation of real estate.
     

New Venture Funds:

  • London-based Oakley Capital has successfully closed Oakley Capital Origin Fund II at €750M. This fund focuses on investing in profitable, high-growth businesses across Europe in the Technology, Business Services, Digital Consumer, and Education sectors.
  • London-based Dawn Capital raises €660M to invest in the next generation of global B2B software leaders. This capital will support European B2B software companies from Series A to exit, focusing on companies driving significant long-term value and shifts for enterprises.
  • Amsterdam-based SET Ventures has launched its fourth fund, aiming to raise €200M to back energy transition pioneers. The fund will support 20-25 European innovators in the energy transition sector, assisting them in creating a carbon-free future energy system.
  • Debiopharm Innovation Fund, the strategic investment division of the Swiss biopharmaceutical company Debiopharm, which manages $150M, has unveiled its latest seed funding program. This initiative aims to provide additional financial support to up to 15 early-stage startups annually.
  • Horizon Capital , based in Ukraine, raised $125M for its Horizon Capital Growth Fund IV, focusing on tech companies in Ukraine and Moldova. Capital is a leading private equity firm in Emerging Europe with a portfolio featuring significant Ukrainian companies like Rozetka-EVO and Ajax Systems.
  • Berlin-based VC Extantia Capital receives an additional €10M investment. Extantia Capital is a climate-first venture capital focused on deep decarbonization technologies and aims to accelerate the transition to a sustainable future. Their portfolio includes companies like MAGNOTHERM, H2Pro, INERATEC, GA Drilling, BeZero, and Reverion.

Startup Funding Rounds & Acquisitions:

  • Sunfish Partners, a Warsaw and Berlin-based early-stage VC, has invested in healthcare CliniNote. CliniNote is focused on making unstructured patient treatment data usable for data exchange and applications in AI.
  • Lithuanian Nord Security secures $100M funding. The funding was led by Warburg Pincus. Nord Security, known for NordVPN, plans to expand products and consider acquisitions with the fresh capital.
  • Lithuanian-founded Genus AI, specializing in generative AI for D2C and e-commerce, raises $6M in seed round extension, totaling $11M in seed funding. Investors include Aleph Group Inc. and notable business angels..
  • Estonian logistics startup Cleveron secured €3.5M led by Nordic Secondary Fund. Cleveron specializes in robotics-based parcel terminals and last-mile click-and-collect pickup solutions benefiting major clients like Inditex/Zara, H&M, and UPS.
  • Greek-founded edtech startup Morphoses has raised €2.1M. Startup offers a gamified learning experience focused on nurturing soft skills. The round was led by Uni.Fund II VC.
  • Lithuanian event planning marketplace Breezit secures $2M in funding led by Practica Capital
  • Polish #SaaS dropshipping platform TakeDrop secures €1.1M. The platform is enabling customers to sell products without physically holding inventory.
  • Polish game studio Zakazane raises $1M in pre-seed funding led by The Games Fund. The investment will accelerate the development of their debut single-player Old West role-playing game, allowing players to shape the town's future through impactful choices.
  • Belarusian-founded Ama care, a platform for choosing and buying beauty products more efficiently, has raised EUR 500k in its pre-seed from FIRSTPICK, along with support from notable angels at Google and FARFETCH
  • Ukrainian startup eTOLLs EU raises €450k in funding from Imperia Holding. The service helps users navigate toll roads in eight EU countries, offering electronic vignettes and operational information.
  • Estonian company Currynomics Labs raised €400k in funding for its Redcurry, a stablecoin linked to a commercial real estate portfolio's value. The funds come from investors Ecosh Life, Impulse Generator Fund, and several angel investors.
  • Romanian #foodtech startup Unison raised €133k in a pre-seed funding round led by Mavers Ventures.
  • Polish healthtech CliniNote closed a seed funding round led by Sunfish Partners. Company offers cutting-edge tools (AI platforms, digital currency solutions, game development) for medical professionals that seamlessly integrate into their daily workflow.
  • Latvian geospatial analytics for digital advertising purposes Roibox, based in Riga, has been acquired by Italian Jakala
  • Polish-founded Vidoc Security Lab receives pre-seed undisclosed investment from bValue Fund. Vidoc's platform automates security tests and enables external attack surface monitoring.

Startup Calls:

  • Applications are now open for the AWS & CrowdStrike Cybersecurity Accelerator. This program supports cybersecurity startups with product development, investments, and business support. Selected startups get a 10-week program with virtual sessions, access to industry experts and investors, and a chance to receive up to $25k in AWS Activate credits. Apply by October 31, 2023.
  • MobilityXlab invites pre-seed stage startups in the field of mobility with a focus on sustainability. Selected startups will have the opportunity to work on projects and experiments with partners CEVT, Ericsson, Magna, Polestar, Volvo Group and Zenseact for 6 months with the possibility of a commercial partnership. Applications are accepted until October 6th.
  • Join Challenger AI an accelerator program, organized by CIVITTA and Radar Tech focused on AI/ML-based solutions, welcoming startups across various sectors, with a minimum of 3 dedicated members and an existing MVP/demo, offering workshops, networking, mentoring, and more to empower innovation. Apply by October 15th.
  • The EIT Manufacturing Accelerate program has launched a recruitment for europe based startups at TRL 6 stage focusing on innovative products/services for manufacturing. The goal is to enhance efficiency, resilience, sustainability, and global competitiveness. The program offers financial support of up to €500k per company.
