Notable funding rounds across Europe:
- Cambridge and Amsterdam-based startup CuspAI, which was founded in April, has closed a $30 million seed round led by Hoxton.
- Paris-based quantum computing startup C12 has raised an €18 million equity funding round led by French VC Varsity Capital, UK firm Verve Ventures and the EIC Fund.
- Paris-based AI visuals generation startup Omi has raised €13 million to develop its product and go-to-market strategy. The funding was led by Dawn Capital.
- Swedish AI startup Tandem Health has raised a $9.5 million seed round led by Northzone, alongside angel investors from OpenAI and Deepmind.
- Italian startup that specializes in security corporate storage systems, Avaneidi, has secured €8 million in a Series A funding round led by United Ventures.
- UK startup Sava that develops continuous glucose monitors raises $8 million in a seed round led by Balderton Capital and Exor Ventures.
- Edinburgh-based legal AI workplace Wordsmith has raised a $5 million seed round to build an in-house legal experience designed for employees.
- Spanish space mobility startup IENAI Space has secured €3.9 million from WA4STEAM, DPM, GED Conexo Ventures, and CDTI.
- Helsinki-based B2B distribution platform Droppe has raised $3.9 million led by OpenOcean. Lifeline Ventures and Illusian Family Office also participated.
- German climatech startup forward earth, which develops AI-powered environmental management software, has secured €3.2 million led by Speedinvest.
- NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) has made its first investmenst in four European tech companies — German ARX Robotics, the UK Fractile AI, iCOMAT, and Space Forge.
CEE startup funding rounds & acquisitions:
- Polish medtech startup Quantum Innovations has secured €9.5 million (PLN 41 million) led by Vinci IQ ASI, with participation from Medtech Holding.
- Estonian smart building automation platform Bisly has raised €6.2 million to expand its technological solutions in European markets, focusing on Germany and the UK.
- Polish-founded startup Proofs has secured $2.6 million in pre-seed funding, led by Earlybird Venture Capital, with participation from Expeditions Fund, Step Function Ventures, RTP Global, and business angels.
- Prague-based app for mental health, Elin.ai, has raised €600,000 in a pre-seed round from Czech Presto Ventures, BD Partners, and angel investors.
- Prague-based developer-first PaaS Zerops has secured $500,000 in a pre-seed round. The investment came from Presto Ventures and Gi21 Capital.
- Ukrainian-founded Dynamiq, a platform that support enterprises in integrating and deploying generative AI apps, has closed a pre-seed round led by TA Ventures.
- California-based SoundHound AI, which develops voice AI technology, has acquired of the Ukrainian-founded ordering platform Allset.
New venture capital funds and VCs’ news:
- French early-stage VC Wind has closed a first €90 million of a targeted €130 million fund dedicated to European deeptech startups in the climate sector.
- Prague-based KAYA VC, which invests in early-stage startups, is raising its fifth €80 million fund to support Slovak, Polish, and Czech startups.
- Paris-headquartered VC Breega has launched a $75 million seed fund to invest in African startups. The firm’s ticket sizes will range from $100,000 to $2 million.
- Madrid-based venture capital firm Kfund has raised €70 million for its sixth fund to support high-impact startups in Southern Europe, with a particular focus on Italy, Spain, and Portugal.
- Warsaw-based VC Radix Ventures has announced the first close of its €41 million fund. The capital came from the European Investment Fund, PFR Ventures GreenHub, and several tech enthusiasts from the CEE region.

- StartSmart CEE acceleration program
StartSmart CEE launched its 16th acceleration program, Spring 2024 edition, and is now accepting applications. The recruitment process runs until July 25, 2024, with startups able to join either the #ReThink Academy Cohort or the Pilot Ready Cohort.
Participants will receive mentoring, business-building support, and the chance to win commercial implementation grants of up to €90,000. Additionally, a €25,000 grant will be awarded to the startup with the highest social impact, led by a team member under 30 years old.
