New VC Funds
- French agritech/foodtech VC Capagro closes its second, €200M fund. The firm will back startups throughout Europe and put €3M to €10M in every company.
- The new CEE-focused Czech Founders VC debuts with a €10M fund. The firm will primarily focus on pre-seed startups and put anywhere from €50k to €350k into each team.
- Slovenská spořitelna opens a €5M Seed Starter fund to back local fintech startups. The CVC will primarily invest in companies at the seed stage.
CEE Startup Funding Rounds & Acquisitions
- A Hungarian document management platform Craft Docs raises a $12.2M series B to invest in user growth. The round was led by EBRD Venture Capital and joined by Creandum and InReach Ventures.
- A global travel marketplace TripAdd acquires Lithuanian AI-based travel assistant startup Eddy Travels. The size of the transaction remains undisclosed.
- ORLEN VC backs a wind turbine monitoring platform eologix, and an industrial inspection robotics startup, Invert Robotics.
- Polish blockchain-based document management platform DoxyChain raises €2.2M seed round to develop the product further and expand internationally. The round was led by Level2 Ventures and followed by CV VC, Satus Venture, and Müller Medien.
- Performance-enhancing supplements startup Gaminate picks up a 2.5M PLN round for further market expansion. The round was made possible by AgriTech Hub, ASP Capital, SMOK VC, and a number of business angels.
- Farmer’s crowdfunding platform LANDE gets a €550k pre-seed round to enter the Romanian market. The round was led by LATBAN and joined by BADideas.fund.
- Slovenian foodtech Juicefast lands a €500k round to scale up the company’s production capabilities. The round was led by Feelsgood Capital.
- Polish mobile gaming growth platform Playstrict raises 1.1M PLN for further development. The investment was made by Carlson ASI Evig Alfa.
- Socjomania spin-off Sell a Service receives 1M PLN funding to build an e-commerce services platform. The investment was made by BRidge Alfa.
- Parking management platform Parkey grabs 419k PLN grant for product development. The grant was given by the EU.
Startup Calls
- EIT Urban Mobility Smart City 2022 accelerator gathers applications from Polish mobility and smart city startups. The companies accepted into the program will have a chance to pilot their solutions in Gdańsk, receive mentorship, and up to €2.5k in an equity-free grant. The applications for the program close on the 27th of the September
- Luxembourg’s Fit 4 Start acceleration program gathers applications from data-driven and healthech startups from all over the globe. The program will last six months and provide up to €150k equity-free grants. The applications for the program close on the 19th of September.
- Alior Bank’s RBL_START gathers applications for the 10-week accelerator. The program is open to global startups working on human-mobile applications with a fully developed product. The applications are open till the 30th of September.
- Italian banking Sella Group scouts startups for its Metaverse 4 Finance Accelerator. The program lasts for 2 months and will award $100k equity-free grants to the top 5 startups selected from all over the globe. The applications are open till the 26th of September.
- Mastercard extends its Start Path initiative to Ukraine. The program will provide 6-months’ worth of mentorship, as well as a $10k, equity-free grant. The program is open for local fintech startups, and the applications are open till the 26th of October.
