Notable Funding Rounds across EU:
- UK-based Battery energy storage startup Field raised £200M from DIF Capital Partners to expand projects in the UK and Europe.
- London-based ev.energy raises $33M in Series B funding, led by National Grid Partners. The EV charging software platform will use the funds to expand in North America and Europe.
- Carvolution, a Swiss car subscription platform, raises €25M from Zuger Kantonalbank to expand its fleet and fuel growth.
New Venture Funds:
- London-based A/O PropTech VC closes €100M for a second fund, targeting energy transition startups in real estate and investments from seed to Series B, favoring European (60%) and North American (40%) companies.
- Milan-based United Ventures announces first close of €65M for its new €150M fund. The focus will be on early-stage investments in European tech companies, particularly those providing tech solutions for currently undigitized sectors.
- DSIT launches £50M Research Ventures Catalyst fund to support science and tech research. Co-investment from private and philanthropic sources will drive innovation and discoveries in health, tech, and science sectors. Grants up to £100k available for researchers to mature their businesses.
Startup Funding Rounds & Acquisitions:
- Ukrainian-founded home rental platform Rentberry raises $15M in crowdfunding. Operating in 100+ countries, it has 3M monthly active users and 60+ real estate partners.
- Romanian B2B Environments-as-a-Service startup Bunnyshell raises €3.5M in a late seed round from Early Game Ventures and Roca X, targeting €4M to raise.
- Hungarian cloud-based startup Axoflow that enables enterprises to maximize their observability investment secures $2.5M seed round led by Credo Ventures, 500 Emerging Europe, Notion Capital, CEE angel investors, including Jared Schrieber.
- Tallinn-based EcoTech startup CupLOOP secures a €2M investment led by SmartCap Green Fund, EstBAN, and Footprint Firm to develop reusable packaging solutions for various industries.
- Slovenian startup ReCatalyst raises €1.7M for PEM fuel cell catalysts. Baked by High-Tech Gründerfonds, Xista science ventures, OCCIDENT, RUJ Ventures and Angel investor Dr. Tine Tomažič, the funding will enhance market readiness and process development for their nano-tech platform.
- Estonian nanotech startup UP Catalyst has secured €1.5M from EAS-Enterprise Estonia to advance carbon materials production for batteries.
- Bulgarian startup Yoga Llama raises €1M from Morningside Hill for their self-learning yoga App based on AR. The app corrects users' poses and plans to expand in the USA and Canada.
- Lithuanian fintech Spenfi raised €800k in seed funding from Presto Ventures, Lithuanian Business Angels Fund II, and multiple angel investors. Platform centralizes expense, invoice, subscription, and payment card management.
- Polish-based Techland, the independent game developer famous for the Dying Light series, is set to be acquired by Chinese tech giant Tencent. While the financial details are undisclosed, this deal is ranked among Tencent's top 4 acquisitions.
Startup Calls:
- Calling for EU-based startups by August 4th to Startup Fair Pitch Battle with the opportunity to showcase early-stage innovation to investors and win up to €125k in prizes. - Calling all Latvian startups till 4th August to be nominated in 8 categories by the Latvian Startup Association Startin.LV, Five finalists from each category will proceed to the second round, where experts will determine the winners. Winners will be announced at Startup on September 8th.
- Calling for early stage startups from Poland and abroad apply to ORLEN Skylight accelerator's to address over 20 technological challenges defined by ORLEN Group companies. Challenges include water recovery efficiency, seismic data processing, wind turbine productivity, and energy consumption optimization. Apply by August 7th.
- Call for EU-based early stage MediaTech startups by 8 August to the Global MediaTech Pitch Day and get a chance to showcase your project to investors, connect with industry leaders like Netflix and Shutterstock, and secure up to €1M in funding from Raw Ventures. The event will take place in Potsdam, Germany 28th September 2023.
