Firehawk Aerospace secures $60M to strengthen European defence supply chain

Firehawk Aerospace, a defense technology startup specializing in advanced energetics and propulsion, has secured an oversubscribed $60 million investment round led by 1789 Capital, helmed by partners including Donald Trump Jr., as Vestbee was informed.

  • Founded in 2018 by Will Edwards, Firehawk Aerospace develops 3D-printed propellant and solid rocket motors. The company replaces traditional casting methods, which require large molds, long curing times of up to two months, and involve hazardous chemicals, with additive manufacturing, printing propellant grains layer by layer with complex geometries previously impossible.
  • This technique allows production times to be reduced by over 99%, improves safety, and enables flexible, scalable manufacturing for rockets, missiles, and artillery munitions.
  • Firehawk designs products at its Dallas headquarters, operates a 340-acre production facility in Lawton, Oklahoma, and conducts static fire and flight tests at two sites in West Texas, including a 30-square-mile launch range, demonstrating both performance and reliability in real-world conditions.

Details of the deal

“Firehawk’s technology doesn’t just speed up how propellants are made – it fundamentally reshapes the supply chain for missiles and rockets. That’s why this partnership is so important for Europe’s defense resilience,” explains Matej Luhovy, Partner at Presto Tech Horizons.

  • Firehawk Aerospace plans to scale up production of its 3D-printed propellant and solid rocket motors, transition from R&D and prototyping to full-scale manufacturing, and strengthen the allied defense supply chain, particularly in Europe.

"Enabling the European defense industry to also produce these weapons quickly and at scale is the core of Firehawk’s mission. We’re proud to partner with Presto Tech Horizons and CSG to help bolster the European energetics supply chain and ensure our allies can fuel the production of key defense equipment," CEO of Firehawk, Will Edwards, commented in a press release.

  • The funding will also support the construction and operation of their 340-acre production facility in Lawton, Oklahoma, ongoing static fire and flight tests in West Texas, and broader industrial applications of their additive manufacturing technologies for rockets, missiles, and artillery munitions.
