Zurich-based cybersecurity startup xorlab has raised €5 million in a Series A round to expand its email security platform across Europe. The round was led by existing investor Spicehaus Partners, with participation from Grapha Holding, EquityPitcher Ventures, and ZKB Start-up Finance.
- Founded in 2015 by Antonio Barresi, xorlab develops email security solutions designed to protect organizations against increasingly sophisticated email-based attacks. Its platform uses behavioral AI to analyze messages in the context of an organization’s normal communication patterns, detecting anomalies such as unusual senders, unexpected requests, and first-time payment instructions that could indicate phishing or business email compromise (BEC) attacks.
- The platform can be deployed on-premises, in a hybrid setup, or in the cloud, with cloud operations and data processing handled through European infrastructure. The solution is designed to support organizations with requirements related to DORA, NIS2, and GDPR.
- xorlab serves customers across financial services, healthcare, critical infrastructure, telecommunications, and the public sector. Its customers include Julius Bär, Swisscom, Vontobel, G+D, and CERN, as well as several major Swiss banks.
Details of the deals
- The company will use the funding to expand across Europe and further develop its sovereign email security platform, initially focusing on the DACH region, Benelux, and the Nordics.
“Europe needs its own cybersecurity champions. Not European copies of US incumbents, but companies capable of defining the next generation of enterprise security,” said Antonio Barresi, CEO and co-founder of xorlab.
