Copenhagen-based Skypuzzler, which provides digital air traffic control for drones, has secured a seed funding round to advance its deployment of digital air traffic solutions.
- Established in 2022, Skypuzzler develops digital air traffic control solutions for drones. Its core product, the Integrated Digital Air Traffic Control (iDATC) system, integrates with Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) platforms to provide real-time tactical conflict resolution and flight path guidance.
- iDATC operates via software-to-software communication, eliminating the need for additional equipment on drones, and allows drones to fly Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) safely.
- The system incorporates adjustable separation minima, flight priority settings, and environmental efficiency profiles, while its algorithms process live airspace data to prevent collisions and manage high-density traffic.
- It can be deployed in cloud or on-premise environments and is compatible with multiple drone types, emphasizing both operational safety and scalability.
Details of the deal
- The investment saw support from Munich-based VC firm Rethink Ventures and the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund, which invests across all technologies and sectors in EU countries and countries associated with Horizon Europe.
“The EIC Fund is happy to have joined this investment, supporting Skypuzzler’s pioneering work in revolutionising air traffic management and optimising the future of aviation. This achievement is an important milestone in their growth journey, and a strong signal of confidence in their technology and vision,” claims Svetoslava Georgieva, Chair of the EIC Fund Board.
- Skypuzzler will use the fresh funding to deploy its digital Air Traffic Control solutions, scale safe and efficient drone operations across Europe, and address the growing complexity of European airspace.
“We are grateful for the trust from Rethink Ventures and the EIC Fund, who share our vision of unlocking Europe’s full drone potential. Their support enables Skypuzzler to solve the scalability problem by delivering the missing piece of technology in drone flight safety, paving the way for drone services that will bring prosperity and well-being to European society and accelerate the green transition," CEO at Skypuzzler, Jesper Skou, commented.
