Ukrainian defence startup Sky Hunter raises funds to expand interceptor drone tech

Ukrainian defence tech firm Sky Hunter has secured a pre-seed funding round, with the exact amount undisclosed. The company is now valued at $4 million.

  • Launched in 2025 by Serhii Nazarov, Sky Hunter develops an application to guide interceptor drones toward aerial targets. The system primarily focuses on Shahed-type attack drones and reconnaissance UAVs, using real-time radar data to direct strike drones toward enemy UAVs, automating the interception process.
  • Several special units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are already using the application, which has also been integrated with a number of interceptor drone manufacturers. The company began as a volunteer initiative within Nazarov’s small IT company and is now expanding its engineering team to further develop the software and eventually create a fully automated terminal guidance solution.

Details of the deal

  • The firm’s fresh round saw support from Front Ventures, Hede Capital Partners, and a third investor under NDA.
  • Sky Hunter plans to use the new funding to expand its engineering team, growing from around 15 employees to 40–50 this year, and to refine its interceptor drone application based on feedback from special forces units already using the system.
