Amsterdam-based Reson8, which builds adaptive speech recognition for European languages, has raised €5 million in a pre-seed round led by Balderton Capital, with participation from NP Hard.
- Founded in 2023 by Thomas Kluiters, Raoul Ritter, and Jarno Verhagen, Reson8 develops adaptive speech recognition systems tailored to European languages and specialized professional domains.
- The platform operates on EU-based infrastructure and is designed to deliver high-accuracy transcription in real-world environments, such as healthcare, automotive, legal, finance, and customer service.
- Reson8’s system uses a text-based adaptation approach that allows the models to incorporate up to one million tokens of contextual information without requiring audio datasets or fine-tuning. This enables the engine to quickly adjust to domain-specific vocabulary, regional pronunciations, and technical terminology in seconds.
- Processing occurs on EU GPUs with zero audio retention, ensuring compliance with data regulations. The architecture is optimized for low-latency, production-grade deployments, supporting streaming, voice agents, and other applications that demand real-time, precise transcription.
Details of the deal
- Reson8 plans to scale its computing capabilities across Europe, improve real-time adaptability of its speech AI using contextual data like documents and calendars, and support integration of lightweight, modular adapters for specific professional environments.
- The funding will also enable the company to refine its systems for high-speed, accurate transcription in sectors such as healthcare, legal, and customer support, while ensuring compliance with regional data regulations.
