London-based cybersecurity startup Ossprey has raised $2.65 million in a pre-seed funding round to advance its software supply chain security platform. The round was led by Episode 1 Ventures, with participation from Osney Capital and Octopus Ventures, as Vestbee was informed.
- Established in 2026 by Nate Dunning and David Read, Ossprey develops cybersecurity tools that help organisations detect and prevent malicious code hidden in software dependencies before they reach production environments.
- The company was founded to address growing security risks linked to the widespread use of open-source software. According to Ossprey, around 90% of enterprise software relies on open-source components, creating opportunities for attackers to introduce malware through trusted packages used in everyday development workflows.
- Ossprey uses static analysis and behavioural techniques to assess how code behaves and identify suspicious activity in software packages, including threats that may not yet appear in existing security databases.
- The company is also focused on challenges emerging from AI-assisted software development, as coding tools accelerate software creation and increase the number of dependencies entering production environments. Its platform integrates with existing developer workflows, allowing teams to monitor software components without disrupting development processes.
Details of the deal
- The funding will be used to accelerate product development, expand Ossprey’s engineering and commercial teams, and support its international expansion across the UK, Europe, and North America.
"Ossprey addresses one of the most pressing challenges in modern cyber security. The team's vision, technical expertise and market opportunity made this an exciting investment for us. We're looking forward to supporting Ossprey as it enters its next phase of growth and brings its technology to organisations around the world," explains Kirsten Connell, Investor First Cheque Fund at Octopus Ventures.
