Ominimo reaches unicorn status after raising Series B at $1.6B valuation

Serbian-Hungarian InsurTech company Ominimo has secured a Series B investment from the venture capital arm of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), reaching a valuation of $1.6 billion.

  • Established in 2024 by Dusan Komar, Dennis Weinbender, and Laslo Horvath, Ominimo develops AI-powered digital insurance solutions focused on motor insurance.
  • The company combines data science, machine learning, and proprietary insurance technology to analyse driver and vehicle data, enabling personalised pricing and more efficient insurance processes.
  • Ominimo’s platform allows customers to calculate premiums, select mandatory motor liability insurance (KGFB) or comprehensive Casco coverage, and complete the entire insurance purchasing process digitally within minutes. By automating traditionally manual operations, the company aims to improve pricing accuracy, simplify customer experience, and reduce operational costs.
  • With the latest investment, Ominimo has raised approximately €30 million in external funding to date, following its Series A round backed by Zurich Insurance Group, which valued the company at €200 million.

Details of the deal

  • The newly raised capital will support Ominimo’s next phase of growth, including expanding into additional European markets, preparing for its planned US launch in 2027, developing new insurance products, and investing further in artificial intelligence and technology.
  • The company also plans to secure its own insurance license and expand its team of data scientists, software engineers, and insurance specialists.
