New York-based Flox Intelligence, a company developing AI systems to reduce human-wildlife conflicts in infrastructure, has raised $3 million in a Seed+ funding round. The round was led by Tilia Impact Ventures and included participation from Satgana, GENIUS NY operated by CenterState CEO, J.O.S.S., as well as existing investors Unconventional Ventures and Almi Invest, as Vestbee was told.
- Flox Intelligence was established in 2021 by Sara Nozkova, and Tomas Becklin. The company develops AI-powered systems to prevent human-wildlife conflicts across infrastructure. Its primary product, Edge, is an autonomous wildlife deterrent system deployed in environments such as airports, railways, roads, and industrial sites.
- Edge uses embedded AI, real-time sensing, and bioacoustics to detect wildlife and guide animals away from high-risk areas. The system is managed via a cloud platform that aggregates data from multiple Edge units, allowing operators to monitor activity, send remote commands, and track performance.
- Edge pods have recorded over 60,000 wildlife events across 27 species and are designed for continuous operation in harsh environments with limited connectivity.
Details of the deal
- Flox Intelligence plans to use the fresh funding to expand its AI-powered wildlife intelligence platform across North America, deploying more Edge systems in airports, rail corridors, road networks, and industrial sites.
- The company also aims to meet growing international demand while scaling its New York headquarters and commercial operations.
"Human-wildlife conflict has been hugely overlooked, and Flox Intelligence is turning the solution to this problem into a scalable business model with tangible impact," comments Alexis Horowitz-Burdick, General Partner at Unconventional Ventures.
