EIF invests €20M in TIN Capital’s Cybersecurity Fund to strengthen Europe’s digital resilience

Amsterdam-based TIN Capital has secured a €20 million investment from the European Investment Fund (EIF) into its European Cyber Tech Fund V, pushing the fund to a final closing of over €80 million. Invest-NL has also increased its commitment, joined by regional funds, family offices, and prominent entrepreneurs from Europe’s cybersecurity sector.

"Cybersecurity is no longer a luxury; it is an absolute necessity for Europe’s economic and societal stability," said Michael Lucassen, Managing Partner at TIN Capital. "Together with the EIF and our other investors, we are building European champions capable of competing with the world’s leading players."

This raise follows an earlier €15 million secured from public investors, including Invest-NL, InnovationQuarter, and ROM Regio Utrecht, as well as several private investors and family offices in the Netherlands.

European Cyber Tech Fund V

TIN Capital's Fund V was originally launched in 2023 as a €100 million vehicle to back around 12 European cybersecurity scaleups. Its target size has since been adjusted to just over €80 million.

Since its first closing, European Cyber Tech Fund V has already backed companies working on:

  • advanced data intelligence for economic and national security, used by NATO-aligned countries,
  • software supply chain and cloud-infrastructure security,
  • privacy-tech solutions enabling safe data sharing and storage,
  • cybersecurity automation powered by AI.

Many portfolio companies use artificial intelligence to improve detection, response, and scalability — critical challenges as European regulations like NIS2, DORA, and the Cybersecurity Act come into force.

A mission to strengthen European autonomy

TIN Capital, founded in 1998 by Maarten Derks and Michael Lucassen, focuses on cybersecurity and advanced security technologies across Europe. Its portfolio includes companies such as BreachLock, Eye Security, EGERIE, SignPath, and EclecticIQ.
