London-based With Nothing Underneath, a B Corp Certified luxury womenswear brand that creates timeless, sustainably sourced shirts inspired by men’s tailoring, has secured £2.5 million in a funding round from Pembroke VCT and JamJar Investments. This funding will enable WNU to grow its workforce and expand its presence in the UK.

  • Founded in 2017 by Pip Durell, With Nothing Underneath (WNU) is a London-based luxury womenswear brand that creates timeless, sustainably sourced shirts inspired by men’s tailoring and British heritage.

Details of the deal

  • The funding round was backed by Pembroke VCT, a London-based venture capital firm managed by PIM LLP (Pembroke Investment Managers LLP) that supports ambitious founders in growth-stage companies across the technology, business service, and consumer sectors.

"In a world where only 2% of Venture Capital funding is given to female founders, we are proud add WNU to the Pembroke VCT portfolio, where 37% of companies are led by women," Pembroke VCT's team, commented on LinkedIn.

  • The round also saw participation from JamJar Investments, a London-based venture capital firm that invests in and supports early-stage consumer tech companies. Its portfolio includes prominent brands such as Oatly, ManyPets, Deliveroo, Papier, and Babylon.

"We have been huge fans of this cult classic from day one. WNU strikes the perfect balance for modern consumers seeking high-quality, affordable essentials. Pip Durell and her team are in tune with every trend, steering the brand with laser-sharp vision," stated the JamJar Investments team on LinkedIn.

  • The startup plans to use the fresh funding to expand its staff and strengthen its senior leadership team while enhancing its UK retail presence. It aims to develop new product lines after the successful launch of trousers in September and further expand its UK footprint.
  • The company is targeting international growth in the DACH region, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as the US to meet the demand for British heritage styling.
