Notable funding rounds across Europe:

  • Danish startup Uniqkey, which offers a password and access management solution that simplifies employee security and boosts company control, has secured €5.35 million led by BackingMinds.
  • German Thryve, a B2B company specializing in health data integration and analytics, has secured €4 million in a Series A funding round led by Belgium's Capricorn Partners.
  • Cambridge-based cleantech firm PuriFire, which produces green hydrogen and methanol to cut carbon emissions in shipping and chemicals, has secured £2.7 million in a seed round led by HICO Investment Group.
  • Berlin-based assetbird, which simplifies real estate management with a digital solution that surpasses traditional methods, has secured €2.4 million in funding from 468 Capital and IBB Ventures.
  • Greek conversational AI software Moveo.AI has raised €2.3 million led by Eleven Ventures, with participation from Uni.Fund and Charge. 
  • Gothenburg-based Nordic SeaFarm has secured €2.2 million to scale up ocean cultivation in Europe. The funding round was led by EIT InnoEnergy and the Inter IKEA Group.
  • London-based foodtech startup Adamo Foods, which develops sustainable alternatives to whole-cut meats, has secured £2 million in a seed funding round.
  • Danish B2B spend management platform Mazepay, which automates and simplifies B2B financial transactions for enterprises managing long-tail spend, has raised €1.75 million from Vendep Capital.
  • Danish mental health care startup Tiimo, which develops a learning and planning app tailored for neurodivergent individuals, has raised $1.6 million co-led by Crowberry Capital and People Ventures.

CEE startup funding rounds & acquisitions:

  • Polish bus manufacturer MMI, which focuses on professionalism and modernity in the distribution and production of buses, has secured €7.7 million in funding from the Vinci S.A. fund.
  • Tallinn-based cleantech startup Myceen, which creates carbon-negative materials from mushroom mycelium and organic waste for sustainable construction, has secured €2 million. 
  • Ukrainian AI-driven drone coordination software Swarmer, which enables a single operator to manage multiple drones through goal-setting and approvals, has secured a $50,000 grant from BRAVE1.

New venture capital funds and VCs’ news:

  • Zurich-based VC Redalpine has closed its oversubscribed $200 million Capital VII fund to support 15-20 early-stage startups across Europe, with a focus on sectors such as energy, health, and food.
  • Amsterdam-based investment management firm Carbon Equity has launched the Climate Infrastructure Fund, raising €10 million from existing investors with a goal of securing €50 million. The fund aims to invest in 3 to 5 infrastructure projects.
  • London-based VC Araya Ventures has announced the first close of its Super Angel Fund at €9.8 million, with a goal to raise a total of €22.5 million. The fund aims to make 10 to 15 investments per year across healthech, fintech, commerce, and future of work. 
  • Sunfish Partners, an early-stage VC based in Berlin and Warsaw, has launched its Sunfish CEE II fund to support tech startups in the CEE region at the pre-seed and seed stages. 

Startup calls & Events: 

Augmented World Expo (AWE), the world's largest spatial computing event, is hosting the Start-up Pitch Competition at AWE EU 2024 that will take part on October 29-30 in Vienna.

AR and VR startups will be selected to pitch in front of experienced XR investors. The winning startup will be honored on the main stage at AWE EU 2024 and go home with the Auggie Award for the "Start-up to Watch."

  • AWS Cloud Day in Warsaw and Prague
