VC & Startup Weekly News From CEE, October 29 - November 4, 2022

New VC Funds

  • Bain Capital Tech Opportunities closes a $2Bn. The firm will invest in startups across Europe.
  • Nordic VC Inventure raises its 4th €150M fund to invest across pre-seed to Series B throughout Scandinavia and the Baltics. The firm will focus on B2B SaaS, fintech, deep tech, marketplaces, and consumer startups, offering €200k to €5M-large investment tickets.
  • A Swiss Privilège Ventures announces its 4th, 20M CHF fund to invest in female-led startups across Europe. The firm will invest throughout sectors and industries but focus specifically on med\tech, deep tech, and the digital economy.

CEE Startup Funding Rounds, Acquisitions and Grants

  • A Swiss media group Ringier acquires a Polish-Ukrainian real estate marketplace developer company Homsters. The size of the transaction remains undisclosed.
  • A Warsaw-based high-speed railway startup Nevomo raises a €5M bridge round to launch its first train. The investment was made by EIT InnoEnergy, Hutter Private Equity, ValueTech Seed and Seedrs.
  • Polish group of biotech startups working on oncology solutions NanoGroup raises 3M PLN for continued research and operations. The funds were obtained through the sale of the company's equity.
  • An Estonian maternity care startup CARÁ raises a €100k pre-seed round. The round was raised from Bolt's CPO Jevgeni Kabanov and Triin Hertmann.

     

Startup Calls

  • Founder University is looking for startups to join its pre-accelerator. Those accepted into the program will have a chance of building an MVP of their product, onboarding first users and in general - have a try at establishing their own company and potentially land a $25k investment from Jason Calacanis himself. The deadline for applications is set for 14th of November.
  • European VCs Atlantic Labs and FoodLabs announce its new entrepreneurs in residence program titled "Founders for Climate initiative".Those accepted into the program will have a chance of developing their MVP, getting mentored, and launch at the end of the program. The applications will be considered on a continuous basis.
  • Ukrainian Startup Fund and a fintech VC N1 team up in launching a dedicated fintech program. The program is open to fintech startups and is especially welcoming toward the Open Banking and  Blockchain applications entering the late seed to series A rounds. Those accepted will obtain anywhere from $250k – $1M investment. The applications are open till the 15th of December.
