New VC Funds
- Pan-European Speedinvest announces a close of a €500M fund to back pre-seed and seed stage startups. The firm will focus on deeptech, fintech, healthtech, industrial tech, marketplaces & consumer, as well as SaaS & infrastructure companies.
- Construction-focused Foundamenetal closes its second, $85M-lare fund. The firm plans to back startups all over the globe.
- Pan-Baltic deeptech fund Baltic Sandbox announces the first closing of its €13M fund. The firm will put anywhere from €25k to €400k in pre-seed and seed stages startups building deeptech and/or life sciences.
CEE Startup Funding Rounds & Acquisitions
- German-Estonian transport management company Transporeon (Sixfold) becomes a unicorn after getting acquired for $2B by an industrial tech corporation, Trimble.
- Czech-founded hotel management platform Mews raises $185M series C round for global expansion and M&A deals. The round was co-led by Kinnevik and the Growth Equity segment within Goldman Sachs Asset Management, the investment also saw the participation from Revaia, Derive Ventures, Orbit Capital and startup's previous investors.
- Fiat-to-crypto platform Utorg obtains $5M seed round to launch its crypto super app. The round was led by Dragonfly alongside TA Ventures and Hypra.
- Travel tech startup Welcome Pickups raises €5.3M round for its global expansion. The round was joined by Market One Capital, Flashpoint, and Venture Friends.
- Polish product recommendation system Recostream gets acquired by an email marketing platform GetResponse to augment its e-commerce offerings. The size of the transaction remains undisclosed.
- Game developer Jarvi Games gets $3M in funding to further develop its open world mobile game, Vice Online. The round was led by Play Ventures and joined by Velo Partners and The Games Fund.
- Croatian game developer Gamepires gets acquired by UK-based studio Jagex. The size of the transaction remains undisclosed.
- Polish startup extending the foods' freshness FreshInset raises 10M PLN in a series A round to fund its foreign expansion. The investment was made by the startup's initial investors, among Infini and Montis Capital.
- Ukrainian-found AI platform for eye care specialsits Altris AI announces a $1M-large round. The round was led by Runa Capital with participation from Joint Journey, Artesian, Brinc and Chicago Booth Angels.
- Healthech API platform Spike raises $700k pre-seed round. The round was led by Geek Ventures and joined by CEAS Investments and APX.
- Atlassian consultancy Adaptavist buys out a Ukrainian Atlassian developer, Rozdoum. The size of trsancation remains undisclosed. Acquired Ukraine-based Rozdoum
- Fitness app Step app obtains 2.2M PLN in funding to expand globally. The round was raised firm SMOK Ventures, Freya Capital and business angels.
- Czech veterinary care platform tlappka raises an undisclosed round to expand across CEE. The round was co-led by Jiri Hlavenka and Jan Sláma.
- Note-taking assistant for doctors, MediNav raises €250k to accelerate product development. The round was led by Overkill VC and Growceanu.
- Ukrainian agritech startup Biolity Robitcs wins Ukrainian Startups Demo Day in Warsaw.
Startup Calls
- City to Sea acceleration program seeks mobility and water innovations. The startup should consist of 2-6 people and be willing to develop/prototype its solutions in Latvia. The winners will obtain both money and opportunity to pilot the solution while being mentored by business/industry experts. The applications are open till the 13th of January.
- Tallinn's Tehnopoli Startup Incubator seeks impact startups to join its 6-month program. The precipitation is open for Estonia-encorporated companies with a prototype and scalable solutions. The applications are open till the 15th of January.
- AdVENTURE VC & Startup meetup in Wroclaw hosted by Czysta3 invites people to join the event. The meetup will feature a number of speakers from the Polish startup ecosystem and can be a good place to meet and exchange ideas with both aspiring and current entrepreneurs. The event will start tomorrow in Concordia Design at 17:00.
- ThinkOn grant program by Lenovo seeks application from Ukrainian SMBs. The applications are open for local entrepreneurs having at least 5 employees and 5M hryvna+/year revenue. The grant will provide a 1M hryvna grant and a business training program by Lenovo and its partners. The applications are open till the 12th of January.
