Notable funding rounds across Europe:

  • PLD Space, a Spanish spacetech company, has secured €78 million in investment. With these funds, the company aims to expand its facilities and accelerate the launch of the MIURA 5 mission by the end of 2025.
  • French AI computer company FlexAI has raised a $30M seed round led by Alpha Intelligence Capital, Elaia Partners, and Heartcore Capital.
  • Paris-based Payflows, an AI-powered SaaS finance platform, has raised €25 million in Series A funding led by Balderton Capital.
  • German  neurocare, a digital therapy platform for mental health treatment, has raised a €16M investment from TVM Capital Healthcare.
  • UK-based nature-based assert reporting company Treefera has closed a $12m Series A round led by AlbionVC.
  • French real estate startup Zefir has closed an €11 million round from Sequoia, Heartcore, Stride, Third Kind Venture, and Zigg Capital.
  • Berlin-based battery storage startup Terra One has secured $7.5 million in a seed round led by PT1 and neosfer. 468 Capital, scout funds of Hedosophia and Andreessen Horowitz, and business angels also joined the funding.
  • Belgian biotech startup AmphiStar has secured €6 million from the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF), Qbic III, and the Flanders Future Tech Fund (FFTF). 
  • Amsterdam-based agtech startup Meridia has raised €5.2 million from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), Regeneration.VC, Edaphon, Cerigo Investments, Cerulean Ventures, and Sabi Fund. 

CEE startup funding rounds & acquisitions:

  • Poland’s app ForActive has raised $1.6 million led by ff Venture Capital and Movens Capital. Konrad Howard, co-founder of Booksy, and F1 Ventures General Partner Vital Laptenok also joined. 
  • Tallinn-based robotics startup 10Lines has raised €1.5 million to further expand in the US. The round was backed by Karista, Tera Ventures, Butterfly Ventures.
  • Brno-based mobile protection app Talsec has secured €1 million. The fresh funding came from Dig Ventures and DEPO Ventures.
  • Tallinn-based AI-copilot for sales execution, Salesfordgehas raised $500,000 from BADideas.fund, Spring Capital, Fiedler Capital, and a private investor.
  • Ukrainian startup developing AI solutions for the defense and civil sectors Byne has raised $325,000 in its first round of funding.

New venture capital funds and VCs’ news:

  • Paris-based venture capital firm Ternel has launched the €120 million Ternel Fund to support 30 startups that contribute positively to community empowerment, individual and communal well-being, environmental restoration, and resilience. 
  • The UK investment firm Isomer Capital is raising its first secondaries fund of more than €116 million (£100 million), with already over 20% of the fund closed. It will focus on buying stakes in VC funds, as well as in some private companies. 
  • British Patient Capital has invested $50.8 million in Evolution Technology Fund III, focused on cybersecurity and enterprise software companies.
  • Swiss 14Peaks Capital has closed its first fund at $30 million. It focuses on investing in B2B SaaS companies, with an emphasis on fintech and Future of Work, at pre-seed to Series A stages. 
  • Belgium-based Impact Shakers has launched its first €20 million fund, Impact Shakers Ventures I, to invest in early-stage startups all across Europe. 

Startup calls & Events:

Huge Thing has initiated the recruitment process for its Female Startup Pre-Accelerator, designed for female entrepreneurs with Polish or Ukrainian citizenship.

Lasting two months, the initiative will provide 25 participants with a series of workshops focused on topics such as testing business hypotheses, product development, building marketing strategies, and preparing for valuation and fundraising. Through this program, ten finalists have the opportunity to secure a $10,000 equity-free grant to kickstart their business ventures and advance their entrepreneurial endeavors.

The recruitment process for the Female Startup Pre-accelerator has begun and will continue until May 3, 2024 — accessible through the Huge Things website or Vestbee platform.
