London-based Edtech Twin Science & Robotics raises £1.25M led by Soulmates Ventures

London-based Edtech startup Twin Science & Robotics, specializing in STEM education, has secured £1.25 million in a funding round led by Soulmates Ventures, with participation from APY Ventures, as Soulmates Ventures told Vestbee. The investment will help grow Twin Science's US presence, fuel international expansion, and strengthen its global operations.

  • Founded in 2017 by Asude Altintas, Cemil Cihan Ozalevli, Mustafa Sapcili, and Omer Gorgulu, Twin Science & Robotics is an education company dedicated to delivering innovative STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education with a strong focus on sustainability.
  • The startup serves more than 1.5 million students across 4,000 primary schools in 40 countries, providing them with essential technology skills for the future job market while encouraging responsible decision-making.

“Our mission has always been to bridge the gap between technology and education, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has access to quality STEM education. This investment marks a significant milestone in our journey, allowing us to scale our impact globally and continue developing AI tools that empower both educators and students,” Co-founder and CEO of Twin Science & Robotics, Asude Altintas Guray, commented in a press release.

  • Twin Science & Robotics has formed strategic partnerships with global firms like Intel, Rolls-Royce, Google, and Ford. Additionally, it has teamed up with YGA, an NGO dedicated to bringing the joy of science to disadvantaged children, to distribute its STEM products to schools in need, particularly in Turkey's earthquake-affected regions.

Details of the deal

  • The round was led by Prague-based VC Soulmates Ventures, which invests in innovative startups across Europe. The investment also saw participation from Istambul-based VC APY ventures, existing investors, and several business angels.

“STEM education in practice means that students are not just passive recipients of information; they actively engage in projects that link theory to real-world problems. This approach allows them to acquire technical knowledge while also understanding the broader context and developing various skills,” Founder and Managing Partner of Soulmates Ventures, Hynek Sochor, commented in a statement.

  • With the investment, the startup plans to advance its "Double-Winged Education" strategy, which combines cutting-edge technology with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The funds will be used to enhance physical kits like the Robotic Art Kit and Robotics & Coding Kit, as well as to develop digital apps and lesson plans, helping teachers deliver these subjects more effectively and engagingly.
