Romanian biotech startup The Cat Health Company secures €500k from Early Game Ventures

Bucharest-based biotech startup The Cat Health Company, which focuses on advancing feline longevity research to prevent or delay age-related illnesses in cats, has secured €500,000 in funding from Early Game Ventures and several business angels. This investment will support their research into promising therapies and help revolutionize market discovery and introduction, as reported to Vestbee.

  • Founded in 2024 by Alex Voda and Alex Bacita, The Cat Health Company (TCHC) is dedicated to advancing feline longevity research by targeting the root causes of aging, preventing or delaying age-related illnesses, and enhancing both the lifespan and quality of life for cats.
  • TCHC is set to revolutionize the discovery and introduction of new, effective treatments, with the potential to extend its innovative approach to human therapies if its feline research proves successful.

Details of the deal

  • The investment came from Early Game Ventures, a Bucharest-based venture capital firm that recently launched its €60 million Fund II to invest in 25 to 30 early-stage startups across the CEE region. Several business angels also participated in the round.

I’m thrilled to support TCHC. Their founders are not only brilliant Romanian scientists who deserve our full backing, with a promising entrepreneurial spirit. They’ve masterfully combined their scientific expertise with a keen commercial instinct to create a venture that has the potential to revolutionize both pet care and, why not, human health,” Partner at  Early Game Ventures, Florin Visa, stated in a press release.

  • The pre-seed round will enable TCHC to launch its promising feline longevity research, aiming to extend both the lifespan and quality of life for cats.

“We have considered multiple options in our current round, but the experience and connections brought by EGV’s partners are unmatched. We’re also thankful to Elena Ovreiu, Adrian and Florin Grosu, and Florin Cioaca  for helping us in the mission to bring better drugs to the veterinary market. We need to go beyond just nine lives," CEO of TCHC Alex Voda and COO of TCHC Alex Bacita, commented in a statement.
