Delaware-based startup Supernova, which unifies design, code, and product workflows with AI automation, has raised $9.2 million in a Series A led by Taiwania Capital, to expand its platform and accelerate AI-powered prototyping.
- Launched in 2018 by Jiri Trecak, Supernova builds software for product teams to connect design systems, code, and product documentation in one platform.
- The first product focused on automating design-to-code handoffs, but after joining Y Combinator in 2019, the team shifted to a broader design systems approach to support established products and workflows.
- Supernova’s platform now provides:
- Design system management with token handling, documentation, and analytics.
- AI-assisted prototyping that generates product structures, specifications, and aligned code.
- Integrations with tools such as Figma and development environments.
- Governance features like permissions, enterprise compliance (SOC 2, GDPR, ISO), and centralized management.
- Its customers include Paramount, Mozilla, and Skyscanner. Recently, the company announced Supernova Portal, a new AI workspace for prototyping, product specification, and code delivery.
Details of the deal
- Supernova’s $9.2 million Series A was led by Taiwania Capital, a Taiwan-based venture capital firm backed by the government that focuses on supporting global innovation in deep tech, AI, biotech, and advanced manufacturing.
- The round also saw support from J&T Ventures, Reflex Capital, KAYA VC, Credo Ventures, EQT Ventures, Wing VC, and Y Combinator.
- Supernova will use the fresh capital to grow its team, advance development of the Portal platform, and expand into new markets. The company plans to strengthen its engineering and AI capabilities, deepen integrations with tools like Figma and GitHub, and ensure the system scales for enterprise use.
- With backing from Taiwania Capital, part of the funding will also support entry into Asian markets, extending Supernova’s reach beyond its current customer base.
"With all this, I want to extend my biggest thank you to everyone who has supported us so far, enabling us to get Supernova where it is now. How we build products is changing before our eyes, and we will push even harder to lead it unfold," CEO of Supernova, Jiri Trecak, commented.
