Serbian startup Collabwriting raises €1.1M in a seed round led by SMOK Ventures

Serbian collaborative research platform Collabwriting has closed a €1.1 million seed funding round led by Poland’s venture capital fund SMOK VenturesCredo VenturesUnderline VenturesStartup Wise Guys, and angel investor Xenia Muntean from Planable, have joined the investment as well. 

  • Collabwriting was founded in 2021 by Sandra Idjoski and Ivan Ralic and is based in Belgrade. Aiming to make online research collaborative, efficient, and traceable, Collabwriting offers a Google Chrome extension that allows users to save and arrange relevant snippets from various websites together. Additionally, it features an AI bot called "Research Copilot" that can assist in locating research papers on any topic users choose. 
  • The round was led by SMOK Ventures, Poland and US-based venture capital fund that invests $100,000-$1 million in early-stage SaaS, AI, and gaming startups from across CEE. In January, SMOK Ventures closed its new $25 million fund with plans to support up to 35 pre-seed and seed startups from the region and its diaspora abroad.
  • Apart from venture capital, Collabwriting also got €300,000 grant from the World Bank-backed Katapult Accelerator, a Serbian business acceleration program that helps growth-oriented innovative companies, during the fresh round.
  • The seed funding will go toward creating Collabwriting for Teams, expanding the team that already exists, bringing on new users, and implementing new AI tools.
