Swiss cleantech company, Bcomp, has closed a $40 million Series C round led by Swiss institutional investor EGS Beteiligungen AG. Polish investment fund RKKVC, together with Verve Ventures and Zürcher Kantonalbank, joined the funding as new investors.
- Bcomp manufactures natural fiber composites for sustainable lightweighting solutions. The company was founded in 2011 with the initial focus on developing technology for lightweight skis. Since then, Bcomp's solutions have expanded beyond skis and are now utilized in the motorsports and transportation sectors.
- Bcomp's technology is being applied for interior components in the new electric Volvo EX30, as well as in designing performance interior and exterior parts for BMW M4 GT4.
- As Bcomp's claims, automobile interiors can reduce their plastic content by up to 70% and achieve a weight saving of up to 50% compared to existing materials and procedures by utilizing the company's solutions. This makes a substantial contribution to the decarbonization process. Additionally, parts manufactured by Bcomp can be reused and recycled, giving them a second chance at life in a different set of components.
