Swedish mental health platform Meela, which helps people find their matched therapist, has secured €2.6 million in a seed round to expand in the UK. The investment was led by Peak Capital and saw participation from The Inner Foundation, Unconventional Ventures, and Calm/Storm Ventures.
- Founded in 2021 by Tiffany Boswell and Natali Suo, Meela develops a mental health platform that utilizes a unique questionnaire approach and a research-based algorithm to match people with their best-fit therapist, thereby enhancing clinical outcomes and overall mental and physical health. Meela also incorporates a feedback loop known as Feedback-Informed Treatment (FIT), which further refines the matching process.
- Based in Gothenburg, Meela has assisted over 30,000 individuals in finding therapists, boasting a less than 3 percent rate of patients missing their third visit, significantly lower than the 50 percent average seen elsewhere.

Details of the deal
- The recent funding round was led by Peak Capital, a venture capital firm based in Amsterdam, Berlin, and Stockholm. Peak Capital invests in startups specializing in SaaS, marketplaces, and platforms, with investment ticket sizes ranging from €250,000 to €4 million.
- Previous investors such as Unconventional Ventures, a Copenhagen-based venture capital company, Calm/Storm Ventures, and The Inner Foundation also participated in the round.
- With the fresh funding, Meela plans to expand in the UK, where it began operating just a month ago.
