Vinted, Lithuania’s unicorn that develops a C2C marketplace for second-hand items, has acquired its Danish counterpart, Trendsales. The conditions of the deal are not disclosed.
- Founded in 2013, Trendsales is Denmark's largest second-hand marketplace for fashion and lifestyle products.
“With impressive growth and a compelling vision, Trendsales is a company that has established a strong second-hand community in Denmark that we are excited to become part of. We look forward to a shared future in which we’ll continue our journey to make second-hand first choice in Denmark and beyond,” comments Adam Jay, CEO Vinted Marketplace.
- Vinted was founded in 2008 by Milda Mitkute and Justas Janauskas. In 2019, the startup gained unicorn status after raising €128 million. In September 2023, the marketplace was launched in Sweden and Finland.
- The acquisition of Trendsales is part of Vinted’s strategy to strengthen its footprint in the Nordics. In October 2023, Lithuania’s startups acquired Homerr, a Dutch delivery scale-up, through its subsidiary Vinted Go.
- The new purchase will allow Vinted to scale its presence in the region and expand its services for Danish consumers.
