London's biotech startup Level Zero Health raises $6.9M pre-seed

London-based biotech startup Level Zero Health, which develops cutting-edge biosensor technology, has raised $6.9 million in a pre-seed funding round led by redalpine, with support from HAX (SOSV) and Entrepreneur First (EF).

  • Established in 2023 by Ula Rustamova and Irene Jia, Level Zero Health develops biosensor technology for real-time hormone monitoring. Using DNA-based sensors and advances in biochemistry and nanotechnology, the company’s minimally invasive wearable tracks hormone levels through interstitial fluid with blood-level accuracy.
  • The wearable prototype uses tiny needles to sample beneath the skin, detecting trace hormone levels and capturing dynamic patterns. It provides real-time insights into hormonal fluctuations that regulate key bodily functions, including metabolism, stress response, and reproductive health.
  • Level Zero Health is also building a comprehensive hormone-health dataset to drive research and personalized treatments, advancing clinical and wellness applications.

Details of the deal

  • The pre-seed round was led by Swiss-based VC redalpine, which manages over $1 billion in assets. In August 2024, it closed its oversubscribed $200 million Capital VII fund to back 15-20 early-stage European startups, focusing on energy, health, and food sectors.

"We did it for blood pressure, and we will do it again for hormones," claims Philip Kneis, Investor at Redalpine and a Level Zero Health board member.

  • The investment also included participation from HAX (SOSV), Entrepreneur First (EF), and several business angels.
  • The investment will help Level Zero Health advance its wearable hormone monitoring technology, complete clinical trials for its monitoring patch, and seek FDA and CE approval, while also supporting the development of a continuous hormone monitoring device set for release in 2028.

"This investment is more than financial support, it brings together a team of individuals and organisations, supercharging us with their experience, wide-ranging expertise and diverse opinions," Level Zero Health's team, commented on LinkedIn.
