Berlin-based operational intelligence startup Kaiko Systems secures €6M Series A

Berlin-based startup Kaiko Systems, which enhances maritime operations with AI-powered frontline intelligence, has secured €6 million in a Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to €9 million.

  • Founded in 2020 by Eddy del Valle and Fabian Fussek, Kaiko Systems develops an AI-powered platform that helps shipping companies streamline inspections, monitor vessel health, and improve maintenance processes.
  • The platform allows crews to easily collect and report data, which is then analyzed to detect potential risks and ensure compliance with industry standards like SIRE 2.0, Port State Control, and RightShip RISQ.
  • Kaiko Systems helps maritime operators enhance efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and minimize downtime by providing real-time insights.
  • Kaiko Systems has a team of 30 professionals based in Berlin, London, and soon Singapore. The startup reports that its platform is used by maritime operators such as OSM Thome, Reederei F. Laeisz, TMS Cardiff Gas, and Columbia Shipmanagement for fleet-wide technical operations.

Details of the deal

  • The investment was led by Hi Inov, a B2B fund based in Paris, Lyon, and Munich, which invests between €2 and €10 million at Series A and B stages, as well as Flashpoint Venture Growth. Motion Ventures also joined the round

"Kaiko Systems is addressing critical challenges in the maritime industry by bridging the gap between frontline teams and strategic decision-makers through intelligent data. Its platform offers a competitive advantage for shipowners seeking operational resilience and efficiency in a complex regulatory landscape," claims Julius Jürging, Partner at Hi Inov.

  • Kaiko Systems will use the €6 million Series A funding to expand into new markets, enhance AI capabilities, and improve maritime operations' safety, compliance, and efficiency. The funding will also help strengthen its product and support the growth of its international presence.
