Ghent-based legaltech startup Jurimesh raises €1.6M pre-seed round

Ghent-based legaltech startup Jurimesh, which automates legal due diligence, has secured €1.6 million in a pre-seed round led by Syndicate One. The investment will further refine its AI-driven platform and support its geographic expansion.

  • Established in 2023 by Jasper De Moor and Jorrit Willaert, Jurimesh develops an AI-powered platform for automating legal due diligence.
  • The platform connects with data rooms to organize documents, identify missing files, and analyze contracts using AI. It extracts key information, detects red flags, and highlights inconsistencies. Leveraging Large Language Models, it streamlines contract review, cross-references clauses, and generates due diligence reports.

Details of the deal

  • The round was led by Syndicate One, an international network of founders, operators, and executives focused on supporting Belgian early-stage tech startups with capital, operational knowledge, and networks.

"While legal AI has so far largely focused on broad horizontal applications, Jorrit and Jasper impressed us with their sharp focus on perfecting the specific task of legal due diligence — demonstrating the next chapter in the evolution of legal AI," claims Hans Kayaert of Syndicate One.

  • Several business angels, including Matthias Geeroms, Jeroen De Wit, Roeland Delrue, Michiel Bearelle, Kris Moeremans, Marc Coppens, Koen Vandaele, Anthony De Clerck, Michiel Denis, joined the round.
  • Jurimesh will use the fresh capital to expand its AI team, enhance proprietary algorithms, and develop advanced legal reasoning capabilities. The company also plans to broaden its presence across Europe through strategic partnerships and build new features to automate legal due diligence, fully eliminating manual repetitive work.

The legal industry has tolerated inefficiency for too long. We’re here to change that. This funding allows us to push our technology further and redefine how legal teams approach legal due diligence and contract analysis," CEO of Jurimesh, Jorrit Willaert, commented.
