Lithuanian engineering startup Granta Autonomy, which specializes in fully autonomous UAVs for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, has secured €1 million in funding led by ScaleWolf VC, with participation from Brolis Defence and HFL Holdings.
- Founded in 2015 by Gediminas Guoba and Laurynas Litvinas, Granta Autonomy focuses on the development and manufacture of unmanned aircraft systems, intelligence, surveillance, ISTAR, search and rescue, and loitering bombs. The startup supplies NATO forces in Europe with its Hornet UAVs and offers lightweight microgimbals, the lightest direct-drive gimbals available.
- Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Granta Autonomy began supplying its UAVs to the Ukrainian front. Today, the Ukrainian army operates a fleet of Granta Autonomy UAVs, supported by funding from Lithuanian and other European defense ministries.
Details of the deal
- Vilnius-based ScaleWolf VC led the investment. This venture capital firm specializes in investing in technology startups, particularly those in the defense sector. Brolis Semiconductors and HFL Holdings also participated in the funding round.
"Since we met Gediminas and the team, we have been impressed by the groundbreaking technology and vision of the Granta Autonomy team. We proudly support their mission and look forward to seeing their autonomous UAVs impact the battlefield over the coming years,” Managing Partner at ScaleWolf VC, Edvinas Kerza, commented.
- The new funding will enable Granta Autonomy to accelerate the development and production of its advanced lightweight surveillance and reconnaissance UAVs, micro gimbals, and digital Datalink software. These technologies have already undergone rigorous testing by the company's team on Ukraine's front lines.
