London-based AI customer service startup Gradient Labs raises £2.8M seed funding

London-based AI customer service startup, Gradient Labs, which resolves customer queries, has raised £2.8 million in a seed funding round led by LocalGlobe.

  • Founded in 2023 by Neal Lathia, Dimitri Masin, and Danai Antoniou, Gradient Labs is developing an autonomous AI agent capable of resolving 80% of customer queries, enabling companies to scale CX with minimal human staff, focusing on exceptional customer support and good outcomes.
  • The startup uses AI agents based on Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Sonnet model to execute requests, reducing the risk of hallucinations through Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques.
  • Gradient Labs has a team of 11 employees and works with 10 companies, including four fintech firms.

Details of the deal

  • The investment was led by LocalGlobe, a London-based venture capital firm, with several business angels joining the round, including Gloria Baeuerlein, Tom Blomfield, Jonas Templestein, Gideon Valkin, Mike Hudack, Akhil Paul, Declan Kelly, Thilo Konzok, and Tristan Thomas.
  • The fresh funding will enable Gradient Labs to expand its team to 15 members, with a focus on AI engineering and applied science talent, before raising a Series A round.

"A big thank you to all investors, design partners, and early employees who have put their trust in us and have joined us on our missing to redefine customer support for the years to come. Let’s do it," Co-founder at Gradient Labs, Dimitri Masin, stated.
