Cologne-based supplier of reusable packaging solutions with software capabilities Vytal has secured €6.2 million in a growth funding round. It was led by Zurich-based Emerald Technology Ventures, with participation from German VC Ventis and existing investors Kiko Ventures, Grazia Equity, and Rubio.
- Vytal was founded in 2019 by Dr. Fabian Barthel, Dr. Tim Breker, and Sven Witthoeft. The startup creates reusable containers for food and drinks for commercial purposes, such as business districts, airports, city centers, shopping centers, fairs, festivals, events, and entertainment venues; this also applies to corporate and university campuses.
- Vytal's partners include companies like KFC, Domino’s Pizza, Wolt, Uber Eats, and many others.
- Emerald Technology Ventures, the leading investor, invests in early and late-stage start-ups in climate change and sustainability areas across the globe. It has over 60 companies in its portfolio, with ticket sizes ranging from €10 million to €15 million.
- The fresh investment will support Vytal’s expansion into new markets and further development of its software and data-driven offerings.
