Prague's AI-powered recruitment startup Finlay secures €300k pre-seed

Prague's AI-powered recruitment startup, Finlay, uses AI and human expertise to connect companies with skilled talent quickly. It has secured €300,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by J&T Ventures, alongside DEPO Ventures, as Vestbee was informed. The funding will enable Finlay to further develop its AI-powered product and expand operations.

  •  Founded in 2024 by Scott Moran, Juraj Lenoch, Peter Kisel, Matt Slavik, and Ondřej Illek, Finlay is an AI-powered recruitment startup that aims to transform the hiring process.
  • By combining AI technology and human expertise, Finlay helps companies quickly connect with top talent from various platforms, including LinkedIn, Reddit, Stack Overflow, and GitHub.

"Our goal is for you to see 40% more candidates that you haven't seen before and ensure the first five candidates you meet are highly promising. We want hiring to be as simple as an Uber ride – just say 'let’s Finlay-it,' and let our AI agents do the rest," CEO of Finlay, Scott Moran, commented in a press release.

Details of the deal

  • The pre-seed funding round was led by J&T Ventures, a venture capital firm supporting CEE and SEE startups at seed and Series A stages with investments ranging from €500,000 to €2.5 million.

"There has never been a better opportunity to disrupt the recruitment industry. Thanks to its strong team, Finlay can move quickly, challenge established leaders in the field, and capture a share of a market that is both competitive and enormous – in Europe as well as the United States," Jakub Zimola of J&T Ventures, stated in a statement.

  • The round also received backing from DEPO Ventures, a Prague-based venture capital firm investing in tech startups from the CEE and Baltics regions.
  • The startup plans to use the funds to further develop its AI-powered recruitment platform, expand its operations, and establish a future presence in the USA. Additionally, the funding will support Finlay's transition to a subscription-based model for its recruitment services.
