UK edtech platform Female Invest secures $11M to address the financial gender gap

London-based edtech platform Female Invest, which educates and empowers women to manage their finances, has secured $11 million in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by Educapital and Rubio Impact Ventures.

  • Founded in 2019 by Camilla Cloëtta Falkenberg, Emma Due Bitz, and Anna-Sophie Hartvigsen, Female Invest develops an edtech platform designed to help women understand and manage their finances better. The company aims to close the financial gender gap by making investing accessible and empowering for women around the world.
  • With offices in London and Copenhagen, Female Invest serves 73,000 paying members across 123 countries. The platform offers memberships that deliver financial education through comprehensive training, expert webinars, weekly market updates, articles, and workshops.
  • In 2021, Female Invest raised $4.5 million in a seed funding round to empower women to invest. The investment came from Green Visor Capital, New Theory Ventures, and angel investors, including Mia Wagner and Fiona Pathiraja.

Details of the deal

  • The fresh funding was led by Paris-based VC Educapital, a European impact VC fund that manages $200 million in assets and invests in tech entrepreneurs shaping the future of education and work, from late seed to Series B. It was also supported by Rubio Impact Ventures, an Amsterdam-based venture capital firm that invests in social entrepreneurs across the Netherlands and Northwestern Europe.

"Educapital deeply understands and aligns with the mission of Female Invest. It was an obvious match when we first met two years ago, and since the traction and achievements proved to us the team was the best to address it. That is why we have unanimously decided to lead this $11 million Series A round and support the next steps of this game-changing journey," Educapital's team, stated in a statement.

  • The crowdfunding round contributed a portion of the funding, allowing Female Invest's members to gain real ownership.
  • With the capital raised, Female Invest will be able to accelerate its mission to close the financial gender gap and support women within the financial ecosystem.

"We hope this fundraise is part of a bigger change, smashing stereotypes of what an investable founder looks like. Finally, we haven’t done this alone. We thank our amazing community, team, and investors for being on this journey with us - we can’t wait to smash more glass ceilings with you," Female Invest founders, commented on LinkedIn.
