Tallinn-based startup DriveX Technologies has raised €1.2 million to enhance its AI-powered windshield damage detection software, with funding from business angels at Carglass.
- Founded in 2020 by Valter Läll, Rauno Sigur, and Kentti Koppel, DriveX Technologies provides an AI-powered solution for windshield damage assessment.
- Customers can perform self-service inspections by taking guided photos of their windshields, with the AI analyzing the images to determine if the damage is repairable or requires replacement.
- The software streamlines the processing of windshield claims by automatically uploading the results, along with photos and repair decisions, to a connected system like a glass repair company or insurer. Vehicle reports are generated and stored for easy access, enabling efficient management and future retrieval of vehicle information.
- The startup claims that DriveX ensures 96% assessment accuracy, reduces costs from booking errors, and lowers customer drop-off rates by providing reliable, real-time windshield damage evaluations.
- DriveX raised €207,000 in pre-seed funding from Lemonade Stand in 2020, followed by a $1 million seed investment led by DEPO Ventures in 2022.
Details of the deal
- The investment included participation from business angels from Carglass®—a provider of automotive glass repair and replacement services—with franchises in Estonia, Lithuania, and Slovenia, along with existing investors and a development grant from the EIS Applied Research Program (RUP).
- The €1.2 million funding will accelerate DriveX’s AI-powered auto glass damage assessment, enhancing accuracy and efficiency for insurers and repair companies. The startup also aims to expand its AI solutions to other repair sectors, supporting sustainability and the Right to Repair initiative.
"The European Parliament’s ‘Right to Repair’ initiative provides strong momentum for creating a sustainable future and we aim to become a leader in this field," co-founder and CEO of DriveX, Rauno Sigur, commented.
