German e-learning solution for frontline workers doinstruct secures €7.6M

German e-learning startup doinstruct, which develops onboarding and training software for blue-collar workers, has secured €7.6 million in funding. The round was led by Creandum and saw participation from HTGF and D11Z. Ventures.

  • Founded in 2021 by Thorsten Gross, Daniel Marinkovic, and Charlotte Rothert, doinstruct develops a multilingual mobile training solution tailored for frontline workers. It enables businesses to train their staff and service providers via smartphones, seamlessly across supply chains and from any location.
  • To date, doinstruct has trained over 120,000 employees across 170 businesses, including Voelkel, Wiesenhof, Hengstenberg, and Echterhoff, resulting in cost savings of €6,000,000.

Details of the deal

  • The major part of the investment came from Creandum, a European early-stage venture capital firm known for backing tech startups such as Spotify, iZettle, Depop, Klarna, Bolt, KRY, Epidemic Sound, and Small Giant Games. With offices in Stockholm, Berlin, London, and San Francisco, Creandum’s portfolio consists of over 280 investments.

“There are more than 2,7 billion frontline workers around the world that have been left behind by current training options. Doinstruct has built an incredible, easy-to-use product with the needs of these workers in mind, and their customers love it. We see huge potential for them as they expand both across vertical sectors and internationally,” General Partner at Creandum, Simon Schmincke, stated.

  • The fresh funding round also included participation from High-Tech Gründerfonds and D11Z. Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Heilbronn that focuses on digital companies specializing in AI, aeeptech, B2B SaaS, and Asset-Light IoT. Bastian Karweg, Founder of Dealfront, and Andreas Hettich from Hettich Group also joined the round.

“Our customers are facing a rising number of challenges. They are affected by increasingly tough regulatory requirements and labor shortages. Shift workers are difficult to reach, language barriers make compliant training and information delivery nearly impossible, and inevitable employee turnover requires ongoing, time-consuming retraining. I know we can do better. And it's obvious that workers and industrial companies deserve better,” CEO and co-founder at doinstruct, Charlotte Rothert, stated.
