French deeptech startup Dessia raises €3M to expand globally

French deeptech startup Dessia, which develops AI-powered robotic process automation software, has raised €3 million to support its global expansion and grow its workforce, particularly in technical and commercial teams.

  • Founded in 2017 by Pierre-Emmanuel Dumouchel and Steven Masfaraud, Dessia develops an AI-powered software platform that helps companies create and manage custom AI applications, enabling them to automate and optimize their design and engineering workflows.
  • The startup's software automates design and engineering processes, helping businesses work faster. Clients benefit from quicker development, accurate designs, and better innovation while preserving their expertise digitally, the startup claims.
  • Dessia collaborates with major companies in the automotive, aerospace, rail, and naval industries to streamline their engineering workflows. For instance, Renault Group uses Dessia's platform to optimize the thermal and electrical architecture of its automotive platforms, reducing development time, while OPmobility leverages the technology to automate the design of hydrogen storage systems.

Details of the deal

  • The funding round was backed by Matterwave Ventures, a Munich-based venture capital firm that supports early-stage industrial hardware and software companies in Europe. Supernova Invest, a Paris-based firm managing €800 million in assets, and Orano also participated in the round.

"We are convinced that Dessia’s engineering process automation technology will have a long-term impact far greater than the automation of financial and administrative processes with RPA tools, which are already widespread in large industrial groups," Claims Robert Gallenberger, General Partner at Matterwave Ventures.

  • Dessia will use the funds to drive its international expansion, grow its sales and marketing teams, and forge new industrial partnerships, particularly in Europe. Additionally, the company will enhance its platform by integrating customizable AI agents that mimic engineers' working methods.

"With this funding, we will continue to develop our platform by integrating customizable agents based on proprietary AI. These agents are designed to mimic engineers’ working methods, providing valuable support in addressing the economic and environmental challenges facing engineering teams," CSO and founder of Dessia, Pierre-Emmanuel Dumouchel, stated.
