London-based foodtech startup Citizens of Soil, which produces premium, regenerative extra virgin olive oils while supporting female farmers and promoting sustainability, has raised £1.8 million in a seed funding round led by FIGR Ventures.
- Established in 2020 by Sarah Vachon and Michael Vachon, Citizens of Soil produces extra virgin olive oils sourced from female farmers across the Mediterranean who practice regenerative agriculture.
- The firm offers sustainable, flavorful, and nutritious oils delivered directly to consumers' doors through a subscription service. Their oils come in reusable bottles with refill pouches, reducing waste while supporting small-scale farmers and promoting transparency in the olive oil industry.

- The funding round came from FIGR Ventures, a family office fund that invests in early-stage, mission-driven businesses focused on creating environmentally and socially responsible consumer goods.
- The £1.8 million funding will help Citizens of Soil launch new products, grow its leadership team, and invest in marketing to boost brand awareness and expand its reach.
