Barcelona-based investment management firm 4Founders Capital raises €44M for its third fund

Barcelona-based investment management firm 4Founders Capital has raised €44 million in the first close of its €65 million Fund III, aimed at supporting around 40 early-stage startups. The fund is backed by family offices, tech entrepreneurs, and institutional investors.

  • 4Founders Capital was established in 2017 by Jesús Monleón, Marc Badosa, Javier Pérez-Tenessa, Paula Blázquez, and Marek Fodor. The investemnt firm manages €106 million in assets and invests in high-potential early-stage startups mainly in Spain.
  • In 2017, 4Founders Capital launched its €12 million Fund I, which delivered a net IRR of 20.84%. The fund invested in 27 startups and secured 9 exits, including Holded, which returned the entire fund within five years.
  • The firm launched its second fund of €50 million in 2021, expanding its portfolio to 38 startups, including notable names like Embat, Zenrows, Vidext, TaxDown, Viterbit, DealCar, and Invofox.

"Thanks to the strong returns from our first two funds and the continued support of our existing investors, who have once again placed their trust in us, we have successfully completed the first closing of 4Founders Capital III," co-founder of 4Founders Capital, Marc Badosa, commented.

  • The new fund plans to invest in about 40 early-stage startups, with size tickets ranging between €250,000 and €2 million. It will focus on tech companies with potential for global growth and provide more funding to those that show strong progress.
  • 4Founder Capital Fund III has already invested in two startups: Punto Post, which raised €1 million for last-mile logistics in Mexico, and Mogu, whose SaaS boosts travel agency sales.

"This new fund represents a unique opportunity for investors looking to invest in technology, with strong diversification and excellent returns. For entrepreneurs, it means having a partner who truly understands their needs—because we’ve been there before—and who is ready to contribute and support them at every stage," explains Marek Fodor, co-founder of 4Founders Capital.
