VARM lands €17.5M Series A to scale AI-powered home insulation across Europe

Berlin-based climate tech startup VARM has raised €17.5 million in a Series A round led by ABN AMRO Sustainable Impact Fund and co-led by GET Fund, with participation from Aurum Impact and continued backing from existing investors Emerge VC and Pale blue dot.

  • Founded in 2023 by Christian Grüner and Sebastian Würz, VARM builds a technology-enabled insulation platform for residential retrofit projects, focusing on upgrading existing homes including façades, roofs, ceilings, and basement structures.
  • The company combines an AI-driven project management system with a network of regional trade partners who carry out installation work.
  • Its platform manages the full workflow, from initial customer inquiry and building assessment to pricing, materials planning, subsidy guidance, scheduling, and quality control, while on-site execution is handled by certified craftsmen operating under standardized processes.
  • The system is designed to streamline and scale insulation delivery, enabling projects for single-family homes to be completed in as little as one day under fixed-price offers.

Details of the deal

  • The fresh capital will be used to expand VARM’s partner network, further develop its software platform, and accelerate rollout across Europe, with a long-term target of insulating one million buildings by 2035.
